US stocks mostly edged higher on Monday, amid signs of strong Black Friday sales.
About 20 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.2 per cent at 44,818.41. The broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.2 per cent to 6,043.77, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 0.78 per cent to 19,361.40.
Among major gainers, Intel jumped 2.9 per cent after announcing that Pat Gelsinger had retired as CEO.
Disney advanced 0.3 per cent following a strong box-office showing for “Moana 2”. The animated movie recorded a record $220 million opening over the long Thanksgiving weekend in North America.
