குவைத்தில் அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பில் ஏற்பட்ட தீ விபத்தில், 2 தமிழர்கள் உள்பட 40 இந்தியர்களுடன் மொத்தம் 53 பேர் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்தனர். பிரதமர் உத்தரவை அடுத்து, மத்திய வெளியுறவுத்துறை இணை அமைச்சர் கீர்த்தி வரதன் சிங் குவைத் விரைகிறார்.
அரபு நாடுகளில் ஒன்றான தெற்கு குவைத்தில் உள்ள மங்காப் நகரில் அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பு ஒன்றில் குவைத் நேரப்படி காலை 6 மணிக்கு தீ விபத்து ஏற்பட்டது. குடியிருப்பில் இருந்த மக்கள், தப்பிக்க முயற்சி செய்தனர். சிலர் தீயில் சிக்கிக் கொண்டனர். தீ விபத்தால், 40 இந்தியர்கள் உட்பட 53 பேர் பரிதாபமாக உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர் என அந்நாட்டு அரசு தெரிவித்துள்ளது. உயரிழந்த 40 இந்தியர்களில் இருவர் தமிழகத்தை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் எனக் கூறப்படுகிறது.தீ விபத்தால் பலர் பலத்த காயமுற்றனர். இவர்கள் சிகிச்சைக்காக மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
