நேபாளத்தில் நேற்றிரவு ஏற்பட்ட சக்தி வாய்ந்த நிலநடுக்கத்தில் சிக்கி உயிரிழந்தோரின் எண்ணிக்கை 150 க்கும் மேல் அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
பூமிக்கடியில் இருக்கும் நில தகடுகள் அதிகம் நகரும் இடத்தில் நேபாளம் இருப்பதால் அடிக்கடி இங்கு நிலநடுக்கம் ஏற்படுவது வழக்கம். கடந்த 2015ம் ஆண்டு 7.8 ரிக்டர் அளவில் சக்தி வாய்ந்த நிலநடுக்கம் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டது. இதில் சுமார் 8 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். அதேபோல 21 ஆயிரம் பேர் படுகாயமடைந்தனர். இதனையடுத்து தொடர்ந்து அவ்வப்போது லேசான நிலநடுக்கங்கள் ஏற்பட்டு வந்திருக்கிறது.
கடந்த அக்டோபர் மாதத்திலும் நிலநடுக்கம் பதிவாகியிருந்தது. இதனையடுத்து நேற்றிரவு 6.4 ரிக்டர் அளவில் சக்தி வாய்ந்த நிலநடுக்கம் ஏற்பட்டது. இதன் காரணமாக கட்டிடங்கள் சில குலுங்கி சரிந்துள்ளன. அதேபோல இரவு 11 மணிக்கு மேல் நிலநடுக்கம் உணரப்பட்டதால் வீடுகளில் உறங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்த மக்கள் சிலர் கட்டிட இடிபாடுகளில் சிக்கியுள்ளனர். இவர்களை மீட்கும் பணிகள் தீவிரமாக நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன.
நிலநடுக்கத்தால் ஏற்பட்ட இழப்புகள் குறித்து அந்நாட்டின் பிரதமர் புஷ்ப கமல் தஹல் இரங்கல் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார். நேபாளத்தின் நிலப்பகுதியில் 10 கி.மீ ஆழத்தில் நில தகடுகள் நகர்ந்ததால் இந்த நிலநடுக்கம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதாக தெரிய வருகிறது.
அதேபோல வட இந்தியாவின் டெல்லி, உத்தரப் பிரதேசம், பீகார் உள்ளிட்ட மாநிலங்களிலும் இந்த நிலநடுக்கத்தின் அதிர்வுகள் உணரப்பட்டன என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
